January blues

Can I just say that January is the most depressing month of the year. There really is nothing very fun about it. Not that we have had depression but if sure makes everything feel gloomy. I know my motivation to do much of anything is severely limited when I'm cold and it is seriously grey outside. We did have a beautiful day on Sunday though, we went for a walk in the afternoon and I swear I died and went to heaven. The most eventful part about our lives is this baby growing and growing and growing!

I think one of these days I'm going to fall over forwards my balance feels completely off with this bowling ball in front of me.

So far little buddy likes wiggling around a lot. He will generally respond to most nudges and movements made by me. If I bend over to tie my shoes he'll kick me in the ribs for taking up all of his space. We were playing with him in church he just kept kicking and kicking if I would tap on my stomach or push on it to nudge him back and we would watch my whole belly move. I think he recently got some extra room in there to wiggle around because he sure has been active!

According to the baby books he should be about 2 1/2 pounds and about a foot long from head to toe. (also according to our ultrasound we had right after Christmas he inherited my whole second toe longer than the first toe thing. Poor little guy.)

Our computer finally died a couple weeks ago so we decided it was time to upgrade. Erik let me get the pink one isn't he a good husband? The day after we ordered this one our old one decided it would work again. Oh well at least now we know we have a reliable one.

That's about it for now I have a couple baby projects in the works that I will post next time.

Nursery update

Project baby room continues! We finally found a dresser we were happy with a week and a half ago and got right to work on refinishing it. I'm kicking myself for not taking a before picture but basically the whole thing was white. Erik has really been the mastermind of this dresser from the beginning and it was fun to watch him be so excited about it and make it so cute for his little guy.

The final project! I love the life preserver look on the white drawers and the rope handles, it turned out so cute I love it! I feel like things are coming together really nicely. We got a changing pad that we're just going to set up on top and we can fill those drawers up with diapers and cute little clothes for him. I'm so glad we were able to find more storage space for baby stuff it's perfect.

We also were able to get fabric to finish up our rocking chair this week too. I really just did a lot of guess work with this thing but the recovering actually turned out pretty good.

I also painted the little red rings around the bars under the arm rests to tie it in with the dresser.

We made our first major diaper purchase last week as well. Costco had a sale on diapers so we got two boxes of diapers and a big box of wipes. The first of many!

Erik painted my toes for me the other day. He has done this lots of times before but it was extra appreciated this time because I literally cannot comfortably paint my toes anymore. They're so far away when you have a soccer ball between you and the floor. I must say he is quite the nail artist.

Love this ultrasound pic we got at our last ultrasound. He's go this mouth open all wide and it looks like he's laughing. Just makes me feel like we've got a happy little baby in there. A couple of nights ago Erik has his arm around my stomach in the night and he kicked Erik and woke him up then kicked him a couple more times. Sometimes he has some powerful little fists punching around in there!

I got a new haircut a couple days ago and I love how easy it is! I figure with baby coming soon less is more!

I haven't taken a belly picture recently I'll have to take one and put it up. I feel like in the mornings it kind of shrinks a bit and I wonder where my baby went and then by about mid-day or so I feel huge again and realize oh, there he is. We just can't wait to meet this little guy! 25 weeks down, 15 to go!

Major update time

Merry Christmas! Erik and I decided to stay home this year since Erik has tons to do with his prelim exams coming up. We missed our families but it was kind of nice to not have to deal with the travel part of it we just got to stay in our own bed  and do as much or as little as we wanted. Sleeping in my own bed has become a big deal for me since I sleep with multiple pillows and blankets to support growing baby and keep my ever changing temperature taken care of. I don't think I've slept through the night in a few months I always wake up once or twice. I'm so glad we decided to get a new mattress last November or I would be in bad shape! Guess it's preparing me for the little amount of sleep that is to come! I do like waking up in the night and feeling little buddy wiggling around doing who knows what in there. He's kind of a night owl, hopefully we can change that a bit when he comes out!
Erik with his new neck/pocket knife baby got him for Christmas. He loves it and I like it too, I kind of want one in pink at some point!

Christmas bump! 22 weeks.

Christmas treats for our friends. They were so yummy I don't know why I didn't save more for us! They are rice krispie treat peppermint bark. Delicious.

Here is what they looked like individually. Really cute!

Taken a couple days ago. 23 weeks.

We decided to start our nursery projects this week since we had New Years Day off work. We cleaned up all our Christmas stuff on Sunday and cleaned up baby's room to make room for his cute cute furniture we've started working on. Erik and I bought this off of Craigslist about a year ago for a baby room for 20 bucks. I wish I would have taken a a before picture but it was just that brown oak wood color and had green plaid cushions on it. We decided we are making little buddy's room nautical themed with white and navy blue and then some red accents. We took this over to our friend's house the other day and painted it in their garage. Erik brought it home and did some finishing touches on it yesterday and we are going to do a few other little things to it and I am going to recover the cushions with a navy blue fabric. I will post a final pic when it is done (we are now waiting on a fabric sale at Joann's next week) We also bought a cute dresser that we are refinishing to go in the nursery as well. It's fun doing our own custom work and making it our own.

Apparently we're really good at getting paint all over ourselves...this is the top or Erik's head

My custom white highlights...

And our awesome painted hands...after we had washed them once already mind you...

We are some pretty happy people. We have a lot to be grateful for. Going into the New Year makes us all reflect on the past year and we have been so blessed. We are both healthy, we love each other more than ever, we have a sweet little baby on the way, I got my new job this year that has been treating me so well, Erik is doing well in school and seeing some progress in his research. Not to mention our wonderful friends and family that do so much for us, our church family, a nice warm home to live in, food in our bellies, and joy in our hearts. We are grateful for the gospel in our lives, and have spent a lot of time this past month reflecting on Christ's birth and life and keeping him the focus of our holiday season was a huge blessing. What a wonderful year and what an exciting year we have ahead of us!
